Kenya celebrates its flower growing industry at IFTEX

The Kenyan rose has been facing major challenges in recent years. The latest and most pressing one undoubtedly is the story of air freight. Is the existing situation in the longer term sustainable? Can, as various experts suggested at a conference focus on precisely this theme, sea freight offer sufficient solutions?

Yet at the IFTEX in Nairobi, Kenya, judging by the busy and cheerful atmosphere these worries momentarily were put aside. The biggest flower fair of Africa was held for the first time again, after two consecutive cancellations due to the covid situation. Therefore, producers, breeders and other suppliers were eager not to miss out on this new opportunity to present themselves.

Dick van Raamsdonk of HPP in any case is enthusiastic: “What I have heard from exhibitors is that it might have been the best edition of IFTEX ever. I tend to agree with them”.
