IFTF 2024

Published: November 18, 2024

After three colorful days, the IFTF came an end. At 5pm, the Expo Greater Amsterdam will close its doors on November 7th, concluding the 14th edition of the IFTF. How was the show? So far, the exhibitors are pleased. Traditionally, the show is attracting visitors from all over the world. Striking this year is the increased number of visitors from the US. Once again, it was a real buyer-grower exhibition.

This year, it is the first time that the show is held from Tuesday till Thursday instead of Wednesday till Friday. Whether this shift will positively impact the visitor numbers has to be seen. However, there are high expectation because it’s a trend that you see at many exhibitions in many countries.

FloralDaily is also exhibiting at the show, handing out their free Greenhouse Guide. And of course, our editors are present, taking pictures for their traditional photo report and looking for the latest news.

Pro Ecuador organized a country pavilion at the IFTF 2024, build with recycled pallets and natural materials. Juan Carlos Yepez from Pro Ecuador says: “IFTF 2024 has become our most important promotional event outside Ecuador.”

The Floral World United at IFTF 2024

Published: November 12, 2024

This is a report of how the floral industry met at the annual International Floriculture Trade Fair.

This year’s International Floriculture Trade Fair was a feast for the eye. The halls of Expo Greater Amsterdam were filled with the most beautiful flowers from all corners of the world. This is a report of how the floral industry united for three days in a tiny Dutch town with a big exhibition venue.

Three Days of Floral Feelgood
There’s nothing that beats flowers at their best. Walking around in the Expo for three days are not enough to stay amazed on the beauty of all the colors Mother Nature has for us.

The message that they sent across the halls was clear: Flowers are good for you! They contribute to well-being in many ways: by bringing prosperity to thousands of workers earning a living in the industry as well as conveying positive emotions to consumers buying and getting these flowers.

The World Gathers at the International Floriculture Trade Fair
The whole world was there in Vijfhuizen’s venue. Walking around at the fair, you’d pass by all the breeders and growers that matter from Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, and the USA, before passing by the European companies from Italy, Spain, France, Denmark, Turkey, and—naturally—the Netherlands. Next stop: Africa represented by many producers from Kenya, Ethiopia, and Uganda, finally turning to Asia where the most delicious flowers from India, South Korea, and Japan took the stage.

Over three days the fair attracted thousands of visitors who were meeting old friends and getting to know new ones. The atmosphere in the corridors was loose and relaxed, and a good conversation about the flowers, machinery, techniques, and the industry as a whole was never far away. Every day ended with a toast to the prosperity of the mutual business.

Flowers Love People, People Love Flowers
Yes, the industry is under some pressure to give an answer to the criticism of a minority group of people who would rather buy plastic flowers or none at all than understand the emotional and economic significance of flowers. That topic was brought to the table on the eve of the IFTF during the annual Floriforum, where representatives from all levels of the industry met and discussed. The conclusion could be no other than that everyone who is involved in the flower business should speak out, and tell the story of how flowers love people and that (the far majority of the) people love flowers.

IFTF 2024 Is the Leading Floral Industry Trade Show!

Published: September 25, 2024

The International Floriculture Trade Fair presents Itself as the global stage for excellence.

The International Floriculture Trade Fair (IFTF) is set to make a grand return to the Expo Greater Amsterdam from Tuesday 5th until Thursday 7th of November, 2024, and the floriculture world couldn’t be more excited. As one of the largest and most influential trade fairs dedicated to floriculture, this event has grown to become a key meeting point for florists, growers, breeders, and suppliers across the globe.

With its reputation for innovation and fostering industry connections, the IFTF promises to be a place where business and creativity meet to shape the future of floriculture. Or, as the hosts from HPP Worldwide rightfully like to present it: “IFTF 2024 Is the leading floral industry trade show!”

A Dynamic Platform for the Floriculture Industry

The IFTF isn’t just another trade show; it’s a unique platform where the floriculture community gathers to showcase its latest innovations, connect with potential buyers, and explore future business opportunities. Whether you’re a grower, florist, or part of the supply chain, this event provides you with a rare chance to network with top professionals, discover cutting-edge floral products, and stay ahead of the latest industry trends.

Flower breeders will showcase their latest varieties, which are not only more stunning and long-lasting but also more resistant to diseases and pests. For florists, this is a treasure trove of new material to work with, offering clients something unique and beautiful for every occasion. Meanwhile, suppliers will present cutting-edge tools that streamline operations for everyone, from growers to retailers.

“Whether you’re looking to make new business contacts, discover the latest in floral trends, or be inspired by breathtaking floral artistry, IFTF is the place to be.”

Innovation at the Heart of IFTF

Innovation is at the heart of the IFTF, and 2024 will continue this tradition. New technologies aimed at increasing sustainability in flower production, reducing environmental impact, and improving supply chain efficiency will be on full display. In recent years, there’s been a growing focus on eco-friendly packaging, water-efficient growing practices, and renewable energy use in floriculture.

The rise of automation, artificial intelligence, and digitalization in the floriculture industry will also take center stage, with demonstrations of new software and tools designed to optimize production and distribution.

Let’s Network!

What makes the IFTF truly valuable for attendees is its role as a networking hub. The fair brings together a wide range of professionals, from growers and florists to suppliers and technology providers. The event is designed not just for business deals but also for sharing knowledge and insights that help the entire floriculture industry grow and innovate together.

One of the highlights of IFTF 2024 will be its truly international scope. Exhibitors and attendees come from all over the world, making it a global celebration of floriculture. Last year’s event saw over 300 exhibitors from countries including the Netherlands, Ecuador, Ethiopia, and Kenya, and this year is expected to be no different, with even more countries joining the floral showcase. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore country-specific pavilions, where nations like Colombia, Thailand, and Italy will present their best floral offerings.

These country pavilions offer a glimpse into the local growing techniques, cultural influences on floriculture, and the uniqueness of each region’s flora. It’s also an ideal space for exhibitors to forge international partnerships, exchange knowledge, and explore cross-border opportunities.

Sustainable Floriculture Takes the Lead

Sustainability is no longer a trend; it’s a necessity, and the floriculture industry is taking this seriously. IFTF 2024 will continue to highlight sustainable floriculture practices, from organic growing methods to eco-conscious packaging solutions. As consumers demand more transparency in the production process, exhibitors will be showcasing ways in which they are reducing their environmental footprint and contributing to a more sustainable future for the industry.

As floriculture continues to evolve with sustainable practices, eco-friendly techniques, and technological advancements, breeders, growers, and industry-related companies promise to highlight all these emerging trends. The event will be a bustling hub of inspiration and business potential. This starts already one day ahead of the IFTF with a Floriforum session themed “Cultivating Sustainability Together – Shaping Tomorrow’s Floriculture.”

Inspirational Floral Designs

For florists, IFTF is a unique opportunity to explore new floral varieties and establish direct relationships with growers and suppliers, ensuring you have access to the best products the industry has to offer. For breeders, it’s a chance to showcase their newest cultivars, gain feedback, and secure partnerships with distributors and retailers.

And, of course, IFTF wouldn’t be IFTF without a celebration of creativity. Visitors will be treated to spectacular floral designs, with fresh flowers arranged in innovative ways that demonstrate what’s possible in floral art. IFTF is renowned for its creative displays, where flowers are transformed into breathtaking installations and inspiring designs. Florists will leave the event brimming with new ideas.

Beware of attendee list scams and unofficial exhibiting listings!

Published: November 27, 2018

We would like to alert you to the presence of “unofficial” companies that are actively approaching attendees and exhibitors with offers to publish, purchase or order exhibitor/attendee lists from IFTF. It is unfortunate that some past participants have become victims of these deceptive practices.

We want to emphasize that HPP Exhibitions, the organizer of IFTF, does NOT provide visitor contact details to any third parties. Therefore, we strongly advise against responding to these requests, as these companies do not possess the genuine attendee list and are attempting to scam you.

Please remain cautious and vigilant when dealing with any communication regarding attendee lists. Protect your personal information and be wary of unsolicited offers that may compromise your security.

If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to the official IFTF organizers directly. Your trust and safety are our top priorities, and we are committed to ensuring a secure and successful event for all participants.

Beware of possible hotel fraud

Published: November 27, 2018

There are ‘unofficial’ companies aggressively pursuing attendees/exhibitors to book discounted hotel rooms through their company. Unfortunately, some past attendees/exhibitors have fallen prey to these companies and have either:

  • Been relocated with little or no warning
  • Lost their significant deposits
  • Not had the guest rooms they thought they had booked
  • Not had the hotel they thought they had booked
  • etc.

This has caused great hardship to these companies and individuals. Reservations made through an agency will be at your own risk. We advise you to book directly with hotels and not through a third party.

Such companies should be avoided, as there are no agencies affiliated to HPP Exhibitions, other than those mentioned on our website!
